Visibility through Storytelling: Q+

Q+: a space for Black, indigenous, and people of color in the LGBTQ+ community to find stories of people like us.

My goal with Q+ was to create a space for young, queer people of color to find less stereotypical representation in media. I developed a bold, playful brand identity using overlapping shapes to visualize intersections of race, gender, and sexuality. I then used Figma to design a website which showcased resources, databases, and a platform for QTPOC to tell their own stories.

Most of my effort was spent interviewing people and interpreting their experiences into a collection of zines, comics, and transcriptions on the website. Everyone deserves a space to feel safe and happy as themselves, and this project was my way of creating a space that I wish I found when I was younger.

Loud colors and chunky type make the Q+ visual identity impossible to ignore.
